Winter Saviours

Winter-Saviours

Waking up in darkness and getting home to the same can mean only one thing in my book. It's time to look to my winter saviours for a bit of a pamper and ensure that getting out of bed in the mornings isn't as big of a challenge. Let's face it, when your bed is THAT comfy, who would ever want to leave?

First things first would be to light my favourite candle. Although the Diptyque Mimosa Candle isn't typically something I'd want for a winter scent, I've come to enjoy the slightly summery fragrance that reminds me that summer is always around the corner! Then it's time to look to my body and combat the cold with a tube of Lotil Dry Skin Lotion. This has a slightly medicinal smell to it, but this fades sin enough and can be easily masked with a spritz of perfume. I've not come across anything that keeps my skin as nourished as this, and paired with the Lotil Lip Balm, I've covered all my bases. The lip balm takes a little getting used to we it's not heavily fragranced, tinted or overly malleable but once you realise just how soft your lips get you can't help but carry it with you everywhere!

A product I picked up when it was first released but haven't gushed about yet is the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Jelly. The packaging isn't the nicest to pop on my dressing table, but one pump of this in the AM and PM makes a noticeable difference to the quality of my skin. Using this before applying makeup has been a dream; no dry patches, just wonderfully supple skin. I can't have a post about my winter saviours without including something that incorporates my colour for Autumn/Winter 2014. I'm slightly obsessed with burgundy as it's not bright, goes with all my black, white and grey clothes, and brings out the blonde in my hair. So the NYX Eye Crayon in Rust compliments my fashion choices to the letter. I tend to concentrate application to the centre of the lid and smudge outward for a smokey effect. It doesn't budge and brightens the green in my eyes.

Lastly, my hair is always a point of contention, so my wonder duo have been making my life that bit more manageable. Applying Bumble & Bumble Grooming Creme to damp hair, I can tame my thirsty, frizzy mane and a blast with the hair dryer leaves it wonderfully soft and open to being styled. You only need the tiniest amount, so great for the penny pincher in all of us. As my hair is chemically coloured, I try to be as gentle as possible so reach for my Denman Tangle Smoother Hairbrush to tease any knots out without yanking a chunk of hair from my scalp. I love how this brush just glides through my thick and long hair with ease.

What do you turn to when the weather is as grim as your mood?
