NARS Orgasm Blush has a Dainty Doll dupe?

It's not very often you come across a product that can match up to a classic. I was given the heads up that Dainty Doll Powder Blush in 004 You Are My Sunshine was a pretty good NARS Orgasm Blush dupe. Dainty Doll is a range by Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud fame and, although not my cup of tea, she's made a mean blush!

I was lucky enough to have already picked up my own Orgasm blush in Sephora last July while visiting Megan (Little Miss Average) and fallen head over heels in love. It's a little too flashy for day time use unless you're light handed with the brush, but a solid staple in my makeup bag. If you can't afford to shell out £21.50 for a blush then giving the Dainty Doll version, a meagre £13.50, a whirl might be a wise investment. After having swatched them both a multitude of times and worn both throughout the day I still find it very hard to distinguish the two. Perhaps You Are My Sunshine leans slightly more to the golden end of the spectrum yet it's fascinating just how close they are in tone. The formulation is smoother and much easier to blend than the classic NARS offering, which took me by surprise. I was lucky enough to snap this up for £1.99 in the fragrancedirect.co.uk sale, but I think they only have Happy Shake left.

I will be using this one a lot over the summer for a slightly bronzed look without breaking the bank. Do you have any duplicates that you adore?

  1. I've been thinking about trying out Nicola Roberts' products for a while now. I'm naturally very pale and currently have to use the lightest foundation possible and then cover that with white powder just to match my skin tone. Whereas her products were originally developed with pale skin in mind.

My favourite dupe is Soap & Glory's eyeshadow primer. I used to use Urban Decay's because it was pretty much the only one available in the UK. Unfortunately it's nearly £20 a pop so S&G's alternative; which works just as well and is a lot cheaper suits me down to the ground.

    Great post as usual!

    1. That's fantastic that you've managed to find this range so useful for your skin tone. I wasn't expecting much from the brand as a whole, thinking it just another celebrity spin off with little going into the product but was hugely surprised. It's lovely to be taken aback like that!

I will have to try the Soap & Glory eye primer, I have a soft spot for the Urban Decay one but agree it is a lot to pay.

      Thanks for reading.

  2. This is an absolutely fantastic post, Ad! I love the NARS Orgasm blush, but I would love a more budget friendly dupe better! Too bad I can't get Nicola's range here in the US! Now if we could just find a good dupe for the NARS Super Orgasm!

I bought a Maybelline lipstick the other day that could be a dupe for MAC's Spitfire lipstick from the WW collection, but perhaps a touch more vivid. It's a gorgeous purply-pink and costs so much less! Definite score, I think!

    1. I have to say that the Dainty Doll version is softer and easier to blend than NARS, which was something I was not expecting.

I'm in love with purple at the minute. I need to do a few posts next week on a cream blush I found in purple. I'm hugely excited about it!

  3. I absolutely adore the NARS Luster blush. It's my go-to blush!
I heard that NYX Terracotta is a good drugstore dupe for it but I haven't personally tried it out yet.

    1. Oh really? I don't have the NARS Luster blush and would love to try out the colour. I have yet to add anything by NYX to my collection, I can never seem to find it in Oxford.

  4. I do not own the Nars Orgasm blush but I had read that the Dainty Doll version was a good dupe for it, therefore naturally I went ahead and picked it up for the price. I really do like it :)

    1. It's great to be pleasantly surprised by a good dupe. I'd heard plenty of good things and as I only got it for £1.99 I couldn't pass it up!
